Tasting Notes
Exotic and tempting aromas began with burning incense and a hint of woodsmoke. We enjoyed Chinese barbecued chicken and Hoisin duck with mango chutney before plums and a Christmas cake. Sweet to taste - sherbet, molasses, tangy fruit sweets and then toasted almonds, pencil shavings and a Bellini cocktail with a hint of Angostura . With water the aromas took us outside. Leather hiking boots on fresh earth amongst Seville oranges and orchard fruits before fruitcake and nuts. The taste was rich and sweet - marmalade on toast, spiced toffee, creme brulee and a touch of fresh oak. After nine years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill American oak PX hogshead.
