The unreduced nose was an unusual mix of pineapple cubes, wheat beer, red cola, balsa and walking past the door of a nail parlour. The palate combined vanilla and custard creams with pineapple jelly and toffee apples, while the finish supplied a drawn -out warming tease of ginger, cinnamon, white pepper and oak. With water, we thought the nose became considerably fruitier – displaying strawberry bonbons, banana split and summer fruits barley water. The palate now discovered hazelnut chocolate, rhubarb and custard sweets, and gooey ginger cake – with the finish wandering off in a liquorice and tarragon direction.
