We rubbed a magic lamp and following a sweet, perfumed smoke, the genie appeared in the form of walnut oil, polished oak and smoked bourbon ice cream. On the palate, albeit briefly, we surprisingly found ourselves in Dante’s Inferno where we met a minotaur but were thankfully rescued by a salty sweetness. The addition of water released camphor oil, singed pine branches and menthol cigarettes while to taste, we found ourselves at the breakfast table with toasted honey granola, Alpen muesli, peat-smoked Lorne sausage along with grapefruit and tomato juice. But be aware, billows of damp smoke still lurked in the finish.
