Delicate, floral and easy-going, the nose whispered rumours of pecan pie, pears Belle Helene, crystallised orange, sugared almonds, honey and butterscotch – maybe hints of pipe tobacco in a laundry. The palate proved zingy and mouth-drying, with tangerines and lemon tart, hazelnuts, coffee grounds and stem ginger biscuits, chewed pencils and chilli. The reduced nose combined marigolds and lemon meringue pie with cinnamon snickerdoodles, sanded pine and ice-cream on crispy waffles. The palate got juicer – Bucks Fizz and popping candy, white jelly beans, lime marmalade and mild mint; then a gentle finish of pickled ginger, green chilli and orange ice-lolly sticks.
