Tasting Notes

Nosing this whisky reminded the Benelux Panel of walking into an old-fashioned sweet shop in Gent. The aromas of cuberdons, gummi bears and candied dried fruits elegantly covering the unmistakable scents of the slightly musty wooden interior. Taking a sip we get a bit of an alcohol kick and some spicy, peppery notes, but they are enlaced with a rich sweetness of apples, ripe pears, and stone fruits. Interestingly, after adding a drop of water, the pepperiness gets a bit stronger, but so are the fruity notes and pear, lemon and peach wine gums seem to rise from the glass. This whisky finishes with the sweet shop eaten empty. A bit of vanilla-like woody dryness and an after-dinner mint remain. ...time for another sip!
