Tasting Notes
The nose went from hazelnuts in chocolate and marrons glacés to sweet stem ginger and toasted bread, then warm hay in a wooden barn and polished wooden furniture. Coffee matchmakers and Topic bar sweetened the palate briefly, before a dry woody mouth-feel (basket canes, pencil shavings, bitter orange) and chilli spice took over. The nose with water became quite autumnal – honey on buttered toast, leaf mould, hay, dried flowers and hedgerows. Again on the palate, the slight black jack, muscovado, pear and liquorice sweetness was followed by blackcurrant twigs, chewing coffee beans, sage, citric pith and licking a postage stamp.
