Tasting Notes
At eight years of age, we combined selected casks from the same distillery, returning the single malt into different casks to develop further; this is one of them. The nose combines wax and oak with singed orange and lemon peel, ash, heather, halva and fudge. The palate’s thick, creamy texture contains exotic elements of lavender, tea-tree, eucalyptus and unassuming smoke. The reduced nose suggests tractors carrying grain, bison grass, salted lemon and fruit in a wooden bowl. The palate is now slightly maritime (oyster shells, seaweed, driftwood); liquorice and menthol to finish. Overall, it is sweet, creamy and oily evoking a picnic in a boatyard.
